Chapter History

The NABA Metro DC Chapter was founded in August 1972 by men and women committed to expanding the experience of minority professionals in the Metropolitan DC area.  The NABA Metro DC Chapter was the first professional chapter established outside of the founding New York Chapter. Marion Holmes, who led the founding group for NABA Metro DC, was elected the first Chapter President.

Over 40 years later, the NABA Metro DC Chapter is the second largest chapter in the NABA Eastern Region and the third largest chapter in the nation, with approximately 250 members.  The NABA Metro DC chapter has cultivated several past presidents, who have served in national and regional roles shaping the future of NABA.  Members of the professional chapter participate in community outreach programs, serve our students and enjoy opportunities to learn from and network with our corporate partners.
